The 7th annual Desert Stars Festival, once known as the Clean Air Clear Stars Fest, has grown from the quite humble seed planted in 2007. It’s located just outside of the picturesque Joshua Tree, at the all ages event setting of Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, it is a unique setting, were you easily feel you have your boots in an old Sergio Leone spaghetti-western!

DSF is the new mecca for musicians and artists from the local community, kaleidoscopique line-up, mixing different kinds of psych,/rock/electro influences. This is a fuzz tones paradise, remeniscence of the 60/70′s sound, passion, love and peaceful mind. Two days of dry camping in the wild west, keeping the respect of Mother Nature.

The main event started after a few pre-parties in various cities, I attended the pre-party in LA at The Satellite, October 2nd with Old Testament, Gold Star, Tennis System and a last minute add, Pete Molinari from the UK.

DSF featured a stellar line-up, almost 30 bands, including The Dandy Warhols, David J and The Gentleman Thieves, Marc Gardener of Ride, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, Jessica Von Rabbit, Miranda Lee Richards, Little Barrie, Magic Castles, Joel Gion & The Primary Colours and Ringo DeathStar.

ManyDSF-15 local talents performed as well, such as AttaSalina, Death Valley Girl, Drinking Flowers and the return of the Richmond Sluts from SF. Two open sky stages and one indoor, allowed the smooth transition from one performance to another one. Brilliant DJ’s and VJ’s sets had the folks in the crowd happy and full of energy in the heat of the magical desert. And in those perfect conditions the festival spirit thrived, fuelled in no small part by some goody BBQ and Booze for those who wanted it.

Desert Stars is an indépendant affair, a non corporate music festival, rising this year after a successful Kickstarter campaign and many volunteers. DIY style!! With punters walking away more content than ever, this is one festival that has bigger and better things ahead of it. So if all stars of my sky will be aligned in perfect position , I will be there in 2015!
