ARNO, is a Belgian artist born in Ostend Belgium. He sings in a mixture of English, French and his Ostend dialect. He was the front man of TC Matic, one of the best known Belgian bands of the 80′s. Since the band split in 1986 after their huge tour opening for Simple Minds, he’s had a solo career. Appreciated as a surreal poet toned by blues/Rock/Punk touches, this European artist is a must! Many have compared him to Tom Waits and Serge Gainsbourg, no less.

This past weekend I had the rare opportunity to witness a intimate performance by the one and only one Arno. This was his first appearance on stage in LA! Jetlag, on landing mode, Arno delivered us a show at the height of his showman reputation!!!

Good as it even more than 35 years on stage behind him, and his band was top notch! An absolutely fabulous performance, two hours, 20 songs … The show encompassed all phases of his career . The audience was a Belgian Americano Frenchy mixture, and everyone was having a great time in this charming theater.

For more than three decades, Arno has been performing in Europe and achieved great notoriety. He’s considered as special, unique and an authentic artist. His music and poetry plead for open-mindedness and tolerance. His last album (the 12th) “Future Vintage’ (2012) released by the Label “Naive” was recorded in Bristol under the guidance of John Parish. He recorded with the Massive Attack, Portishead and Robert Plant’s bassist using John Parish’s 1970s mixing console. They finished the album in just two weeks, mixing songs at the rate of two a day. For now, He’s apparently ready to be back in studio next December for a new album, in Bristol again.
