Broken Teeth is one of the best bands out there. Let’s get that straight, right off the bat.

Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, this group of rock and roll ruffians play straight ahead in your face good ol’ rock and roll. Mega hooks, killer lyrics and a no nonsense work ethic all backed by a tight as a virgin’s pussy professional unit. Fucking A.

No wonder I slipped out the back door after a long ass work day to catch their show. You got to make some sacrifices and take some heat. It's a long way to the valley if you wanna rock and roll.

Broken Teeth had it revved up around 10ish and front man Jason McMasters said hello. “We are Broken Teeth and this is what we do”, Jason said as the band broke out “She’s Gonna Blow” a foot stomping coaster of sexual innuendo. Penetrating pound base with guitar churning pull. Blister array of power chord chorus.

Just like on Blood on the Radio (Broken Teeth’s killer live release), “Pull the Plug” made a quick follow and a perfect topping. Those in the house that were unaware of what they were dealing with had the senses shaken. Take notice people. High Voltage power source.

Like Uncle Charley’s earth mover, “Roll Over” leveled the land and cleared the field and “Stick It In” melded to “Hell 4 Sale”. “I wanna smell your breath, it doesn’t get more romantic than that, well unless you say, “I wanna stick it in you”. Charmer and bloody good fucking fun. Did someone say, “Let’s get wasted?”

From the delightfully awesome release entitled Guilty Pleasure, we got a stint of “Chain Gang”. Unrelenting vocal ala Jason, accepting backs and full throttle strings. We have no failure to communicate.

A foray into ill-gotten gains, “Devil Money” takes us to the seedy and steaming back rooms of illicit cash flow. Phony Jesus freaks, illegal crap games, the strippers pole, they all make the bad buck. And Broken Teeth preached the evils within. Sounded just fucking killer.

Jason took the occasion to announce that you lucky fuckers in Europe are privy to the October release of Broken Teeth’s new CD. America has to wait. Thank God for E-Bay! But we got a good sampling of what is in store from the killer title track, “Electric”. “Electric” is a tribute to all of us that dared to be different and the morons that ridiculed. You know which category you fall in. The band was on fire and this song kills. Period.

The adrenaline went up a notch when the band played one of my personal favorites entitled “Hanging by the Skin”, thank you very much. Addicted to anything sweet, we should have listened to our dear old mom. Well, momma told me not to come and if I had heeded the warning I sure would missed the fun. Slamming snare pops the gun. Dueling rhythm. Get me off on a technicality.

Frantic and all hopped up, fasten your seat belts because it’s a “Crash Landing Affair”. Verse delivery brought flashes of the late great Bon Scott to mind. AC/DC reign supreme in the blowout influence department. Coming at you like an airliner in distress, Broken Teeth cut the edge. Bruce Rivers is just a fucking monster on the kit. I always favored drummers that hit really hard, are super solid and never waver in tempo. This guy masters it all.

“Bonfire” blazed bright as the boys seemed they could just go on all night long, and proved it so as we got a killer medley of rock in the form of “Undertaker”. Talk about one of those song custom made for a drunken kick ass sing along. “Under” “Taker” in a thunderous unison. Think Priest, British Steel era. And speaking of Priest, Broken Teeth teased us with a short sampling of just that. Yes you are the devils child.

Alas this too had to pass and the show was in the books as it were. I soon found myself out on the street and visiting some old haunts on the way back to the hill. And yes, it has eyes!

Go fucking see Broken Teeth. They are doing a tour, visit their myspace and find out where and when. I swear you will fucking thank me for this one
