On the 35th anniversary of the release Bowie’s Diamond Dogs we heard Halloween Jack perform this gem live. Plus two other goodies from the Thin White Duke. We can NOT hear enough Bowie!

Another cover band? Technically, yes. However, Halloween Jack is made up of solid citizens with serious street cred. To wit: Gilby Clarke (Guns N Roses, Rockstar Supernova) on guitar and vocals; Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction, Porno For Pyros, Camp Freddy) Muck on drums; Daniel Shulman (Garbage, RUN DMC) plays bass and Eric Dover (Jellyfish, Slash's Snakepit, Alice Cooper) on vocals and guitar.

A June residency at Silverlake’s Spaceland has H’Jack playing Saturday nights and drawing out a nice crowd of rockers to this roomy club. Unusual in that Silverlake is more Indie-Shoe Gaze and the glitter and the leather tends to stay east of the 101 in Hollywood or the Sunset Strip.

The set list is on your iPod for sure.
“Fox on the Run” from Sweet
“Diamond Dogs” from David Bowie
“All the Young Dudes” by Bowie via Mott the Hoople.
“20th Century Boy” T-Rex, of course.
“Love is the Drug” More cowbell on this Bryan Ferry beauty
“Rock and Roll All Night” from Kiss.
“Love is Like Oxygen” another Sweet one.
“I’m Eighteen” from Alice Cooper, "A baby’s brain and an old man’s
heart.” Ain’t it the truth.
“Rebel, Rebel” another Bowie beauty.
“Saturday Night’s All Right for Fighting” from Sir Elton.

Having a lot of fun and goofing like crazy, Halloween Jack’ers bring expert musicianship and showmanship to the stage. “Here’s another one I wrote!” The between song banter is usually tired and distracting but not tonight. It is the opposite because of the polish and ease of these seasoned players who dearly love the rockers they pay tribute to. Not to mention how highly entertaining and a total treat to hear these great songs performed live by such great players.

We got there too late to hear Sweet Kill, but we love their name and our friend Blitch says they are amazing. So our loss. Next time Sweets!

On the way home, a quick stop at Silver Sun Liquors for pick up a pack of smokes (didn’t you know that’s where the band got it’s name) heading back to the Sunset Strip.
