I am known around this place to not be a fan of that hard core shit. Can’t sing along. Sigh. I hate it when I prove myself wrong. And for a second time in less than a week I look like a tool.

Supporting my local scene as best as I possibly can [those that know me here know what that means], I try as often as I can to catch shows here in the city. SO on Friday the 11th me and the posse headed out to the local metal bar here to catch 6 of Oklahoma City's top metal bands.

The line up was crazy and the fucking show started at 6:30. HELLO PEOPLE! Nothing is more metal than hitting a venue in the middle of daylight to head bang and drink right? So anyways I went to check out the other bands but the real reason I went was to see a local band that is starting to make MAJOR metal waves in the Armpit called Horse Called War.

I met the guys and they are super cool and down to earth. Always taking time to mingle with the legions of angry metalheads that come to see them play. But that is nothing compared to how this band can take a room full of people, amp them up, electrocute them and send them over the edge in a pile of sweaty, screaming, moshing lunatics.

I had heard they were an insane show, and Aaron told me I would need spare panties when I saw them. I didn’t believe it till I saw it for myself. I even donated a pair of Victoria’s Secret black thongs to the cause. I found myself caught up in the HCW movement what can I say?

Their set opened up with Unforgiven Judgement and went as follows from that: Coward by Thy Name, Blink Of An Eye, Resurrected, Dead Is All I See, The Reality Of Dreams, I’m Bleeding For You and the set ended in an insane pile of sweat, bruises and possible blood loss with Fields Of Poverty. And the crazy thing is they weren’t even headlining! This set blew the other bands away...In my opinion, but what do I know right? Shut up I know what I’m talking about!

Horse Called War has shared the stage with many national and regional acts including: Lamb of God, OTEP, W.A.S.P, Children of Bodom, Powerman 5000, Suffocation, Behemoth, Rikets, Dryline, Hostility, Self Inflicted, and many others. And I am sure this list won’t stop here. These guys are gonna be opening and soon headlining at major shows all over the US. They are already infiltrating Texas so who knows what’s next on the list, or the planet.

Horse Called War is:
Aaron Korstjens - Bad Ass Kill' em All Vocals
Bryan Slusser - Guitar
Kelly Lay - Guitar
Nick Brower - Bass
TJ Mansfield - Drums

You NEED to pick up their latest CD "Becoming"! Be looking for More of these guys in the future....I see it already.
