"I've had great success being a total idiot.” -Jerry Lewis

Been down for a hundred years/sucking on nerve gas/yet I persevere/ pushin’ up daisies and fed the fire / I got burnt hanging by a telephone wire/ temporary illusions for the sick at heart/no love lost for a creep fallin’ apart/welcome me with arms outstretched/ vampire nurses sucking out the blood test/I’m spineless and stimulated/ I ain't livin' the American dream/beat my slug filled mind on a pillar of salt/fuck knows what’s in my bloodstream.

It isn’t often that I get stimulated enough after listening to a CD to pretend that I can write a song in five minutes. It is even less that, I try to fashion it after the band I just heard. Well, I just attempted it above so please don’t assume this is a song written by “The Love Drunks”. My ode to The Love Drunks!

Comin’ at cha like some crazed Rockabilly band impregnated with Iggy’s large member and spawning a Blues, Garage, half-breed. Top that off with a late night television Southern evangelist, hands a waving and gums a flapping, screaming and growling at you with such conviction that it would be hard not to be converted. Kind of like the Gun Club on meth but still displaying their soulful hypnotic undercurrent, while infusing it with a little Lux Interior swagger and hopped up on early Clash.

The Love Drunks inebriate you from the opening “Sketch” right through to “Mortician Blues.”

2006 is off to a great start with this release!
