Hell Cat Records really knows how to throw a party. Two words: Free Booze.

Ya think they got a crowd at Safari Sam’s at 6p on a Saturday? On the rainiest day LA has seen in a year? Driving down Sunset Boulevard to the club, the sky was as scary like a Hollywood alien invasion epic. Dark charcoal, silver and white gold clouds all over the sky. Freaking beautiful but threatening.

And, yes! to answer the previous question - they got a crowd. One of the best we’ve ever seen. All the demographics of So Cal were represented; Mohawks, Bangers, Goths, Punks, Metal heads, Mods and, of course, Rockers. And we were there - so Glam too.

We met cutie pie lead singer for Orange, Joe Dexter, before the show with his big eyes and his Something-About-Mary hair. We’ve wanted to check this band out for a while. They are tenacious with emails and newsletters. They do not let go of their fans. And, oh yeah, we love their name and their very Sex Pistols graphics. It’s OK to steal, just steal from the best. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

We missed opener Midnight Shakes but heard they were good. And who told us? Our friend and birthday boy, Coyote Shivers who filled the middle slot.

Is it just us or did Coyote Shivers go all rockabilly? His sweet set with Casper on bass and the lovely Kourtney Klein on drums, was a touch twangy and aw shucks. That aside, Shivers delivered the usual Pop Punk Glam Slam fun. Opening with Bisexual Girl and our favorite, Plus One and Sugarhigh. And closed with a new song, Don’t Believe a Word She Says. Bitter and sweet.

According to Ms Klein, Coyote doesn’t look his age, “and it’s not like you ain’t trying.” Many more, bro.

After a quick smoke break out side Orange took the stage and all hell broke loose. “Welcome to the greatest show on earth!” Joe announced without dispute. The set featured songs from the new release is called Escape from LA; Get the F*ck Out of My Way, Tiara and the single; What I’m Looking For. The mosh pitters slammed and spun. One of the liveliest shows seen in a long time.

The storm was over, inside and out. Driving home, the sky was clear like crystal and sparkling clear air. And still scary. This is LA after all.
