Ronnie Spector's Annual Christmas Show has been an annual event at BB Kings for over 10 years. She is a living icon, who must be drinking from the Fountain of Youth because she looks truly fabulous considering she started performing with the Ronettes in the early to mid 60's. She spanned the decades with her music playing a repetoire from the late 50s and '60's to DoWop to Punk and more recent stuff . There was something for just about everyone.

Her backup band included Arno Hecht (who has played with David Johansen in the past), as well as Daniel Rey (who has worked with the Ramones among others), and they sounded great! Ronnie and her band put on a first rate performance for a good 90 minutes and ran through Ronettes standards such as "Be My Baby" and " Baby I Love You". She also performed solo material. Among the songs she sang were "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory", a Thunders classic, which she dedicated to Johnny Thunders, and "She Talks to Rainbows" which she dedicated to Joey Ramone, who was a big fan and close friend of hers.

She covered a song that Frankie Lymon of the Teenagers gave her when she was just a teen still, as well as one by Amy Winehouse. Of course she performed many Christmas covers, as it was a Christmas show! She was promoting her recent Christmas release called "Best Christmas Ever", a short Christmas release featuring 5 new Christmas tunes, in addition to her well-known Christmas covers of "Frosty the Snowman" and "Sleigh Bells" and others.

She shimmied, she shook 'her stuff', and she made everybody smile! She was full of spunk! She really seemed to be having a great time, and the audience did too. At one point Ms Spector embraced the snowman statue onstage. This snowman shows up every year apparently, and the eyes and mouth light up like something out of LiteBrite. She told the crowd, "I love this guy!"

And Ronnie, we love you!!!
