Some treasures are left undiscovered till such time that beauty can be fully appreciated. So goes the mysterious appearance of Four Songs by The Secret 6. How it fell into my hands will always be a mystery. Was it at a show, “oh, you are with The Shug, check out my band’s CD”, or perhaps left by a late night lover before she careened off into the early morning mist forever to be a memory, or even more likely, left by an elusive specter passing through this realm to another plane of conciseness (certainly not plain). Whatever the scenario, I sluggishly awoke one morning and gazed upon a CD in the collection and didn’t have a glimmer of recognition. What the fuck is this? Who are these guys? Where did this come from? Without recollection, The Secret 6 stayed on the shelf, unloved and un-played.Until now.

Un-filtered beams of blue and bright, along with a companion of Edge like guitar mastery in the threshold of opener “After Hours”. A dark wave engulfs warm sensory mandate. Penetrable vocal styling exude London back street, odd for lads from the LB. Unforgettable Fire-like feel enhance the mid eight-o mood influence while modern day modular mainstays. Building bold to stand united. “You should know by now.” Sensory collision or perhaps collusion. Melting imagery upon the dreamscape. Shoe-gaze away.

Splash the canvass heat and earth, twinkle from the sky above. Maneuvers of orchestral magnitude hither. “Favorite Love Song” is a musical box that never unwinds with pre-lamb Genesis vapors. Love thrives outside of space and time as a trajectory of the heart. Crystal clear beauty from start to finish. Dare I say, masterpiece. Killington has transcended heartbreak.

Demo electronica, leaves imagination wide open for the live effect of “Last Dance”. How can it penetrate the soul any deeper, when impact is on a full tilt headphone journey of the mind? Synthesizer fuzz tone, warm and wooly. Coie ivories are kindling to the spark.

Shed tears from the pure majesty of “Settledown”. A hypnotic, dark and haunting melody that rains red. Too numb to feel the cold, to deep to feel the pain, love runs within and without. Almost resistant, but deeply yearning, submissive in the last awakening. Do the 360, round and round. Yeah it feels like that. Standing alone in the final moment, “with nothing but love.”
