The Sparkly Cats

If God and Satan got together one evening after a long night of binge drinking and did the nasty, 9 months later they would have given birth to a new breed of half-demon spawn babies called The Sparkly Cats. This band is straight out of the pits of Milan Italy and are now about to attack the rest of the world. CIAO!

I was sitting here, minding my own business, loving the whole world, and 6 seconds into this E.P. I suddenly wanted to go beat up the whole neighborhood just for the fun of it. The Sparkly Cats are dangerous to me and could land me in prison if I don't learn how to control myself.

These luscious and desirable bad boys are excellent musicians who have somehow combined the sounds of Sweet, Sisters of Mercy, Dire Straits, and Deep Purple and morphed them all into one helluva dirty ass rock-n-roll sound. I sit here with drenched panties and wonder if they're magic, but then again maybe I just need to get laid. The Sparkly Cats music is unique, creative, and keeps your full attention from the moment it begins. It's like going on a journey to places you never knew you wanted to go, and the trip is sexy, raw, hot, and rockin'. The Sparkly Cats make me so amped up that I feel like I just snorted an 8-ball off a stippers ass.

Formed in 2007, The Sparkly Cats initially went through band member changes until they found the perfect balance of musicians. With founding member (singer and guitarist) Jean Kat leading the cat pack, the band also consists of band co-founder Lory Sparkly on keyboards, Nico Dalto on bass, and Alli Papes on drums. They are a true force to be reckoned with.

The Sparkly Cats have just released their latest E.P. entitled "Rock'N' Voodoo", mixed and mastered by legendary British music producer John Fryer (Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and HIM). The 6 tracks are titled, "DIRTY ROCK 'N' ROLL", "DROPS", "KISS ME", "LAST BREATH", "ROCK 'N' ROLL VOODOO", and "TRUST IN LOVE", and it clocks in at just over 22 minutes of 'in your face' rock-n-roll madness. The 2 stand out songs in my opinion are "DIRTY ROCK 'N' ROLL" and "TRUST IN LOVE".

"DIRTY ROCK 'N' ROLL" has a hardcore late 70's Deep Purple vibe going on. It's a killer tune full of twists and turns and is heavily loaded with trippy keyboards. I had visions of listening to this song loudly, ripping a bong hit, and just sitting back and going on a spacy trip of insanity into the center my mind...so that's exactly what I did. REPEAT is my best friend now, especially when it repeats this song 400 times in a row. Somebody gimme a beer. I'm thirsty.

"TRUST IN LOVE" is the band Sweet reincarnated, but better. Jean Kat's vocals are absolutely amazing in it. He has extreme control over his voice and this tune pushes him to the limit. Lory Sparkly's keyboards are all over the place and woven into a wickedly delightful jam. And with Nico Dalto and Alli Papes banging out the rythym section like whiz kids on crack, this song defies "normal". This tune is funky, crazy, choppy, and makes me wanna do the TIMEWARP AGAIN! I have to be careful though because this song is hell-on-wheels insane and freaky enough to land me in the hospital with full-blown rock-n-roll heart failure. SOMEBODY CALL A DOCTOR!

And let me tell you how cool The Sparkly Cats are! They've offered to give all SugarBuzz Magazine readers a free download of "TRUST IN LOVE" just so you can hear it for yourself! You can download it HERE! I'm warning you though, it's not for the boring. So if you're boring, get the fuck out!

All in all I think this band is fresh, new, and unlike the typical crap the music business has been churning out lately. It's cool that they got back to rock-n-roll roots and reinvented it into something even more spectacular. The Sparkly Cats are doing it their own way, which is the way I like it. I give them the 'Reb Sixxx Rocktastic Seal of Approval'. Check them out right now or I'll go to your house and pee in your bushes.

Keep Rockin', Motherfuckers.
