| Last night around 6p, turning on Indie 103 for the Jonesy's Jukebox re-broadcast - not really paying attention - all of the sudden we noticed they are playing the Ramones non-stop. "What's this about - did somebody d-d-d-d....." Yes. That's exactly what happened yesterday afternoon. |

| The timing is bittersweet. He was too ill to attend the 30th Anniversary Show last Sunday (reviewed here yesterday) that was our tip off. There is another benefit show planned for New York City but LA got its shot last Sunday. How lucky are we. Jesus, another three days and he wouldn't have known. We got to scream "Hey Ho, Let's Go!" for him. Turns out, for the last time. Thanks, God. If you want to see something beautiful, please check out his Electronic Shrine... www.joeyramone.net/site/johnny/johnny.html Lists of his favorite bands, horror movies, Republicans and baseball players. So now he's in Rock and Roll Heaven with Joey and Dee Dee, standing on top of the World Trade Center rocking their brains out. God rest his soul. Thank God for the Ramones. Victoria Jane Joyce |

Flashback to 1976 Lucky's Introduction to The Ramones It was a Sunday morning and to avoid having to sit in the church pew with my old mummy dearest I got up early to "attend" a earlier mass alone. I walked down the street in the direction of good old Our Lady of Grace feeling an urge to have some fun. So upon arrival at the massive front doors of this sacred place I turned and kept walking down Ventura Blvd towards Licorice Pizza. |

| Some of you older readers may remember Licorice Pizza. It was a chain of record shops. This paticular one was in Tarzana, CA. I loved to browse the bins to find my next prized possession. Music was, and is my life and I always have had a need to have new blood on a regular basis. I would start at the A section and work my way to Z.
In the R section I discovered a new release by a band called The Ramones. It took just one look at the cover to know this was going to be something special. Damn right. Upon my first listen to Blitzkrieg Bop I was a die-hard Ramones fan and always will be. Johnny Ramone was a vital part of my love for this band. Myself being a guitar player, I was blown away by the force behind his Marshall and Morsite Guitar. Simplistic but perfect. He is truly a legend and will be deeply missed. My life was forever changed the day I bought this record. It was the best $3.99 I ever spent. Lucky |
