15. Any regrets in life so far?

Jonny: suppose I regret dating that junkie chick, but I don't regret banging her!

John: I regret giving Jonny's junkie ex-girlfriend $300 for an abortion when she wasn't really pregnant.

Ellen: Not even close.

Matt: I regret dating that bitch Leah.

16. Where was your CD recorded and what did you like most about the recording process?

Jonny: My favorite part of recording was the bottle of Jager I drank.

John: We recorded our demo at Jackpot! Studio in Portland with Larry Crane. Tom Tatman (my uncle) mixed it at Catamount Recording in Waterloo, Iowa. The thing I liked most about this session was that we really had our shit together. A lot of stuff is first take, live in the studio, with minimal overdubs. We tracked everything in a day and a half. It's a pretty good representation of what you'll get when you see us live, only with less blood.

Ellen: For me it was a chance to really hear John’s guitar solos. Sometimes it’s difficult to listen while performing, so this was finally a chance to hear him shred.

Matt: I don't like anything about recording except the finished product. It sucks having headphones duct-taped to your head all day.

17. If you could create with anyone outside of your current bandmates, who would it be?

Jonny: I could think long and hard about playing with my idols, but fuck that. I love my band. These fuckers literally pulled me out of the gutter, and they've all saved my life on numerous occasions. There's no one I'd rather create with. We're a family.

John: I love my heroes, but I'm not interested in playing with anyone but my band.

Ellen: I’d be the first girl in Turbonegro, but I’d never give up Lovely.

Matt: I'm in the band I've always wanted to be in.

18. Good and Plenty or Mike and Ikes?

Jonny: Neither, gross! Whatchamacallit, all the way.

John: Vicodin.

Ellen: Tough call, I’ll take Good and Plenty.

Matt: I'll have to agree with Johnny. Vicodin, hands down.

19. Have you been keeping your nose clean?

Jonny: Lately? Comparatively? Yes. Well, sort of. OK, at least one nostril is clean.

John: Ummm, no.

Ellen: Clean as a whistle.

Matt: Despite my last answer, yes.

20. "Million Dollar Hustle" what does that song mean to you personally?

Jonny: I wrote the lyrics when John played me the first riff. I thought, "This song is gonna make us a million bucks". It was one of the first songs we all collaborated on, and we close every show with it to this day. I guess it's become Lovely's anthem.

John: That was the first song where our style really came together. It's got a catchy hook, a big chorus, a weird arrangement, and a hot guitar solo. That's the formula we use for pretty much everything.

Ellen: I knew it was a killer song when I found myself thinking that if I was a stripper, I’d take off my clothes to this song.

Matt: It means I get to play a drum solo at the end.

21. Any last words to your fans and SugarBuzz readers?

Jonny: Don't be afraid to show your titties, ladies. I'll still respect you. I promise.

John: 2 years ago, when I told people I was going to start a straight-up cockrock band, some of my friends told me that we wouldn't even be able to get a gig, much less have anyone show up. Thanks to all our fans who prove them wrong by packing every show. To all the Sugarbuzz readers, the rock is coming back! Thanks so much to Lucky for this interview. Check us out at www.lovelyrocks.com!

Ellen: Thank you!

Matt: Thank you all so much. Somebody give us 10 grand to record a new record with John's uncle (www.catamountrecording.com). See ya!

Well that's all for now Shug readers. I want to thank the members of Lovely so much for putting up with me and doing this badass interview.....love you fuckers!!!
